Chris Turpin

Chris Turpin is a first-generation PhD graduate, proud Appalachian, devoted husband, computer enthusiast, musician, and long-suffering Tennessee Volunteers fan.

During his teens, Chris was active in the hacker community. One of his most notable projects was Anonymous v. Art, a collaborative initiative with Art 404 that orchestrated a SlowPost DoS action using the Tor network to overwhelm the online presence of some of the world's leading art museums. As a (hopefully) more mature person, Chris has shifted his focus if not his interests. He spent the better part of the last decade doing award-winning research on end-user cybersecurity training and teaching courses in artistic software and web design, computational linguistics, game design, and technical writing at The Ohio State University.

He's now an Instructional Design Specialist and LMS Administrator at Roane State Community College, where he works within the Center for Teaching Arts & Technology (CTAT). His work spans instructional content creation, D2L Brightspace administration, learning analytics, video production, web design, and software development—bringing his research background and creative interests directly into service of faculty and students.

With a background in the hacker scene, corporate IT, and higher education technology, Chris brings a practical curiosity to the way systems and technologies work. He's interested in how things break, how they can be fixed, and how they can be improved.

He can be reached by smoke signal, or email at cjt.public@gmail.com.
